Well, this would be the day I decided to drive the Kahekili Highway (Route 340) from Ka’anapali over to Kahului. Marianne was not pleased with the drive, although the sights are dramatic if you can take your eyes off the road while trying to keep on the narrow one-lane highway with two-way traffic.
But, first, we saw the sights along the better parts of the highway on the western edge before it gets narrow:

Honolua Bay, Looking West
Looking East from above Punalau Beach towards Honokohau Bay
Looking west back across Punalau Beach
This road sign, as you climb out of Honolua Bay, just says it all, in a couple miles the one-lane road begins….
Looking towards the Nakalele Blowhole Point across Honokohau Bay
Inactive Nakalele Blowhole, down at the bottom, due to low wave activity…
Looking east from near the Nakalele Blowhole
Headed down the hill ahead, the road closes down to a single lane, with limited passing areas for the next 7-8 miles…
After the road narrowed, Marianne was too terrified and worried about the driving that I had to do to even think about taking pictures. Therefore, I went to Google Earth’s Street View, and captured a few images of the drive down this section of highway. The yellow line is an overlay on the image of the route traveled by the imaging vehicle.
