Kauai Beach Resort by Aqua

This has been our third stay at this resort since August 2007. It is a very nice resort, nice rooms, beautiful grounds, etc.  It was formerly a Hilton property during our previous stays in 2007 and 2009. They were very recently acquired by Aqua, an Hawaiian based chain of properties.

The one thing that really irks me is the nickel & dime charges…  I just ha d to pay almost $9.00 just to access the web and print our boarding passes for tomorrow morning…  $0.49 per minute for internet access and $0.99 per page for B&W printouts (Color @ $1.99/page!!). Most resorts offer this service to their guests for free or a nominal charge for the printing only…

Oh, yeah, don’t forget the mandatory $13.95/day to park your own car ($16.95 for valet) and the optional $12.95/day for 1Mbps in room internet access (wired/wireless).

Just irks me, but we will be back…

  1. Penny wise and pound foolish especially considering what I assume is not a cheap rate per night. I wonder what other resorts do? Maybe it’s par for the course? But these charges do seem excessive. I stayed in a sub par place in Orlando a couple of months ago that billed itself as a resort, undergoing renovations. The place was clearly a work in progress but when they tacked on $5 a night resort fee, I complained and they removed it. Depends on how much you want to push it but maybe you could get some of the nickel and dime crap removed, especially because you have a history of staying there? I’d ask, especially if there is a line at the checkout desk when you leave…Of course make sure Marianne is on board before you “make a scene.” ????

    • Steve, I just let it slide, but it has been a big topic of conversation with the Hawaii Tourist Industry of late. I just wish they would charge the correct room rate up front, and get rid of the extra charges…
