Travel Review: May 13, 2013: Rainbows, Ma’alaea & South Maui

The morning started out with a rainbow in the morning sunshine off the coast, a morning Kayaker, and an Insurance Icon Wannabe:

After breakfast, we headed down around the south side of West Maui towards South Maui.  Stopped at the Maui Ocean Center and the local Farmers & Vendor’s Market, getting a great view of the Ma’alaea marina.  Then down to Kihei, Wailea, Makena and LaPerouse Bay, which is the end of the road in South Maui after passing through a couple miles of desolate lava flows.  We also got some nice views of Molokini Island:

Travel Review: May 12, 2013: Our First Full Day on Maui…

Since this was our first visit ever to the Island of Maui, we decided to check out the local area around the Sheraton Maui and Kaanapali Beach first, before heading out across the island:

After checking out the resort proper, we walked down the beach walk to Whaler’s Village, the local resort owned shopping center to check it out:

We spent a few hours doing the exploring and walking around, then headed back to the room to rest for a short time, then hopped in the SUV and drove the 5 miles or so down to the community of Lahaina with a stop at the “Cannery Mall”, dinner at Bubba Gump’s, stopping to enjoy another sunset and a stroll down “Main Street” in Lahaina before heading back to the resort for the night.
