Welcome to California!

Passed over the Sierra Nevada Range, looking north, as we enter California airspace at 39,250 feet at about 3:45pm EDT or 12:45pm PDT.

Just before the range, we passed by Mono Lake, even closer to the CA-NV border.

Beginning to slow and descend to San Francisco as I type, dropping 2000 feet and dropping 50 mph speed since I started this post… Pilot says wheels down in 20 minutes…

  1. Mono Lake is really cool. Worth a visit. Also have you been to Yosemite? A MUST SEE! 4 hours from SF on 120 or 140 East. Mono is just outside the eastern Entrance of the Park. The Eastern Sierra is also really beautiful toward Bishop and Mammoth Lakes.

  2. I keep thinking of going to Yosemite, but if we did that during one of our layovers to Hawaii, we would need to head out the day wee landed so we had the next day to exsplore before heading back to SF to say in a hotel near the airport. I’d also probably add an extra day to the layover….
