Crashing Surf from Our Balcony

This series of eight photos over about 4-5 seconds shows the crashing surf just about 150 feet outside our room’s balcony.  It is only going to get better the next 24-36 hours with a high surf warning 🙂

Sheraton Kona Resort @ Keauhou Bay…

This will be our home for the next five nights. We have s beautiful oceanfront room that is looking right down on the building surf. We have s Hugh surf earning from now until Saturday with 6-10 foot swells expected from the south. We don’t directly face the south, but the black lava cliffs outside the room should make for a good show with what surf we do get….

Hop, Skip, Jump…

Waiting at Kahului Airport in Maui for our flight to Kona on the Big Island. Boarding should begin in about 45 minutes, once our plane gets here and is unloaded, etc…

The flight is 23 minutes, just a hop, skip and a jump, but is sure easier than making the crossing by paddling while floating on our luggage (if it would even float with 47# of stuff inside)

Today, our tropical adventure moves on to the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawai’i.

In about 2 hours we need to head out of the hotel room, check out, grab a quick breakfast at McDonald’s in Lahaina and then take the 45-50 minute drive to the airport in Kahului.

Our flight today is Hawaiian Airlines flight #340, with a boarding time of 11:34am. Gate departure for the 32 minute flight to Kailua-Kona is 11:59am HST.
