Final Vacation Day…

Today we head for home from San Francisco. After we get home, I will be adding some additional blog entries and photos from some of our more memorable events, as it is much easier to do this from the laptop than the phone or tablet.

Just a couple more posts on our status as we travel home today…

Golden Gate National Cemetery…

In our previous visits to the San Francisco Bay area, we never managed to remember to visit here during daytime hours.  This time we made a special effort to go first this morning.

Although not as large as Arlington outside Washington DC, nor as scenic as the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, it is still awe inspiring and gives one great appreciation and respect for all those who served our country, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could all enjoy our freedom.

History Park San Jose…

I have wanted to visit History Park in San Jose during the layovers in the SF Bay area for the past three trips, but this was the first time we actually were in town when the print shop was staffed so we could visit with letterpress friends.

Had a great visit with Jim & Eric, and recommend the park in general to visitors to the area.

Here are some of the pictures from our visit…

New Plans for our San Francisco Layovers!!

I have been talking to a friend of ours in the San Francisco Bay Area about our plans while visiting the area on our way out to and back from Hawaii.

It looks like we may have a volunteer impromptu city guide to show us the highlights of San Francisco on this trip.  After three trips to Hawaii with 6 stops in San Francisco, it looks like this trip we may actually make it INTO San Francisco and see the downtown sights on our way out to Hawaii.  We still have to work out the details over the weekend, but I am sure it will be a good tour of the city sights…

On the return trip, it just happens that there is an afternoon game with the San Francisco Giants hosting the Washington Nationals at AT&T Park in San Francisco.  What better way to spend an early summer afternoon than at the ball park?  So, our friend is getting tickets so we can enjoy a day at the ball park with him on our full lay-over day on our return from Hawaii before heading back home the following day.  A nice ending to our vacation!

Thanks for the great ideas, Steve!
